Drew Swinney: From Clemson Walk-On to Samford Coach With a Strong Football Legacy

Drew Swinney is an American football coach and former Clemson Tigers wide receiver and holder. His full name is Andrew “Drew” Swinney. He is best known for his time with Clemson football and his new coaching role with Samford Football. He is also known as the son of Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and Kathleen Swinney. But his story is not only about his famous last name. He built his own path through hard work, patience, school success, and team service.

He played for Clemson from 2018 to 2022. During that time, he worked as a wide receiver and later became the team’s starting holder. After his playing career, he stayed close to the game and moved into coaching. He later joined Samford as an assistant coach and wide receivers coach.
